THE INNOVATION PARTNERSHIP, BETWEEN ALBANY COUNTY AND MVP HEALTH CARE, MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

Are you ready to make a difference?

Join the Nation of Lifesavers by learning Hands-Only CPR at our CPR Community Day on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the MVP Arena in Albany! The American Heart Association and the MVP Innovation Fund want to train 600 people in the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR in one exciting day! We will also be giving away a limited number of CPR & First Aid Youth Sports ™ Training Kits to Albany County Youth Sports Teams.

For more than 100 years, the American Heart Association has made bold moves to save and improve lives, pioneer scientific discoveries, and advocated for healthy public policies in communities across the country. We haven’t done it alone. We reach our goals working with organizations and individuals who share our vision for better health.

It's not just about the resources we give, the dollars we raise or the fun we have. It's about the lives we can save, together.

THE NEED

350,000 people in the U.S. experience sudden cardiac arrest in the community each year.
When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately receiving CPR from someone nearby.

90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die.
Anyone who witnesses a cardiac arrest in the community  (i.e., not in a hospital) can perform CPR.

70% of cardiac arrests that do not happen in the hospital, occur in homes and private residences.
A friend or family member is mostly likely to be the person who needs to take action.

DOUBLE OR TRIPLE someone’s chance of survival. CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.
Yet, bystanders only perform CPR 46% of the time.

For adults and adolescent children,  Hands-Only CPR is an easy-to-learn skill that requires only two steps: call 9-1-1 emergency services and push hard and fast in the center of the chest at a rate of 100-120 beats per minute.

The Sept. 29 training is for Hands-Only CPR. It is NOT a certification course. For information about becoming certified in CPR, visit cpr.heart.org.
